Of course one of the highlights of the weekend is to be able to sleep in - and fortunately we have been able to enjoy that aspect of weekends for some time now. Different from what the picture suggests Mia does not sleep in our bed - we just picked her up at 9:15 am for some playtime with us. Before that she had a 7 am feeding and went back to sleep 45 minutes later to allow us some extra round of sleep as well.
Was a bit surprised that she made it all the way until 7 am this morning because her last evening feeding had been at 9 pm. So toady we will try if she can manage with only four feedings - with a bit more than her usual 6 oz bottle of course.

The happy girl

The reader
It turns out that Mia likes to watch and listen to us and doesn't mind if one really talks to her or into a phone or is reading the newspaper aloud. This is a nice way to catch up with today's news - or as in the picture above with the Dinning section in Wednesday's New York Times - and to keep Mia entertained at the same time.
She also has discovered her hands and can entertain herself by sucking at her little fists.
Maybe all these new activities are making her tired: After her 10 pm feeding last night she was still asleep at 7 am this morning - but then very hungry 10 minutes later.

Two months old
The two month birthday yesterday went not so nice for little Mia: The present from her pediatrician were four immunization shots into her tights and one oral immunization. So our happy baby turned into a crying one and she was still crying periodically in the evening. Tonight though she is already smiling again and playing with her mum as I type this. They also went out for a little afternoon stroll at another unusually mild day.
At the doctor's office we also learned Mia's new weight and height: 5200 g ( 11 lb 7 oz ) and 54 cm ( 21.5 in ) - no wonder she is harder to lift and to hold now.

Almost eight weeks old
We are really amazed how fast Mia is growing and changing. Now that she is almost eight weeks old we though that this would be a good age for her first trip to another state: So we packed up the car and drove the 35 minutes to Bethesda, Maryland were we are checking on cousin Barbara's apartment while she is helping out the Afghan government:
It was a beautiful sunny afternoon with 61 F (16 C ) and perfect to sit outside with a cup of coffee walk around in the neighborhood.

So Mia probably had a good impression of her first trip to another state.
We also have further improved out technique for bathing and it looks like Mia is really enjoying the water and being pampered afterwards:
A big milestone for us is also the first couple of nights were Mia slept more than 7 hours. So after some good sleep we could catch even more sleep after the 6 am feeding and had the first weekend in weeks were we could sleep in.
