Memorial Day Weekend

This Memorial Day weekend we stayed with Ji's cousin and her family north of the city. Just a 45 minute drive away but it felt like a little vacation.
It started with a pool party at the community pool. It was a bit cool and windy but still lots of fun

After the nap it was time to head to the playground with Ben Ben and Ella

 Ji and Yilei had cooked a great dinner and then it was time for a bath

After the bath it was time for desert

Ben spooned out the ice cream - and he was pretty generous

 The next morning we went to the playground again

After that Mia practiced a bot for her first bike race in two weeks

The Grand Finale

Mia second year of preschool ended the Thursday before the Memorial Day weekend.
The class had practiced some songs but Mia's contribution was not too big:

After the perforance it was time for a snack and some pictures

Then it was time for the playground. Mia and Jacob ended up burring their socks. Looks like they will be lost

Deutsche Schule

Its hard to believe that the class at the German school will be ending tomorow. Mia had a great teacher and lots of fun

Field Day

Field day was a fun morning full of activities in the gym.

New York

We all had fun on a four day trip to New York to meet Christian, Antje, Claudia and the Bernsteinss.
There was a great view from Christian's place

Highline park

Charlottesville

This weekend we went for a weekend trip to Charlottesville. Mike and Ha were invited to a wedding there but no children were allowed at the reception. So we met everyone at the hotel and first checked out the pool

After Mile and Ha had left for the reception it was already time for dinner in the hotel restaurant - which we had all for ourselfs

Later we explored the surroundings.  On the pond next to the hotels were two swans and there was a little hill to climb'

We finished the evening with an ice cream bar and movie night.
The next morning we headed to Monticello, the estate of Thomas Jefferson just a few miles out of Charlottesville.
Instead of taking the shuttle bus we walked up  from the visitors center and it turned out to be a beautiful walk

After a tour of the house we explored the basement

It was a beautiful day with beautiful weather
