A day in the country

We joined the Dietrich Family for a trip to the Virginia country side one hour west of Washington DC that was organized by colleges of Mandy. Our first stop was a farm that had horses and longhorn cattle

 Mia had fun seeing Kross and Brooklyn again

After a hike over a pasture we reached the longhorn cattle. The smaller children needed a better spot to see them

The next stop was the farm were fox hounds were kept.

The puppies were the main attraction

Then we went on to see another farm were the horses were kept. Mia fed one of the horses a carrot

 Then a blacksmith showed how a horse got new horse shoes

 Mia was asking if this would hurt the horse

 After this it was time for lunch and a cookie with Mandy

A day with Larissah

One week before the start of school Larissah had no more camp and joined Christoph and Shika at the office. There se met Mia and Ji and they spend some time in the city before heading to the pool in our building

Funland Farm, Strasburg, Pa

We checked out a farm Strasburgm Pa that offered a tour of their property.
Before the tour started Mia tried the swing first

Then the girls took a look at the goats

Then we started a little tour where the farmer talked about the history of the farm and all the different crops.

The tabaco fields were harvested by the Amish because the work was so labor intensive

 

Then we left the wagon

After that we got a tour of the barn

Them Mia and Lariisah could milk a cow

 and feed some calfs

 Of course there were also some cats around

Then they could hold some chicken

Later we stooped a roadside marked before driving back home

Lancaster, Pa

Just as in the year before we added two days in the Amish county after the SAP summer party in Newtown Square. Our first stop after the one hour drive was the children museum in Lancaster.
Mia loved the play store there were the cash register actually beeped when scanning an item:

Mama bough of course plenty of seafood

 Papa helped finding the items from the the shopping list

Then it was time to dress up

Mia and Kross also liked the little factory

 Then they could hunt for dinosaurs bones in a bucket with mulch that smelled like  chocolate

Then we were really hungry and after a big lunch at the "Good and Plenty" restaurant Mia and Kross played at the playground there and fed some of the anmals

 At the hotel we met the Rheins and enjoyed a beautiful evening

Instead of going to the "Dutch Wonderlnd" we had fun at the mini golf and maze net to our hotel

 Then it was time for fun at the hotel pool

And this was not the end. After Kross left we all got together in the breakfast room were Mia and Lariisah played and the evening ended really late with story time from two Coni books
