The last field trip of the year went to the National Zoo. Ji had volunteered as a chaperon and had to go there by metro. Mia and her classmates went by school bus.
After we had a bit of a heat wave the day was luckily a bit cooler
Mia paired up with Sophia
When everybody met for the ride back home it was time for a cold drink

Woodland Trail
On a nice and sunny Sunday morning we tried a new trail at the Turkey Run park. It was not as steep as the one that goes down to the river and very nice and green
After the hike we had a refreshing smoothie

European Song Contest
Martin had told us that the Austrian embassy was hosting a live viewing of the European song contest in Vienna this year. Thinking that it would be a fun afternoon for all of us we got the tickets and Christoph and Shika with their daughters joined us as well.
The place was quite crowded but eventually we managed to all sit together
When all the songs were finished and the votes from all the countries were counted it was more fun to move outside to the terrace
There was plenty of space
Mia and Larissah showed off their cart wheel skills

A weekend with the Cousins
It has been almost five months since we last went to Yilei's house so it was really nice to go there again for a sleepover.
After a nice past dinner and some TV for the kids on Saturday evening the kids played together Sunday morning.
First Ben Ben showed his remote controlled helicopter that could really fly
Then they all played at the street before the house
Even though it was very muggy we all went to the playground when Rex and Yilei were at church
It was very muggy but the kids had fun and played with some other children as well
For lunch we all met at Wegman's

Last Day of German School
The semester at the German school ended quite early a week before the Memorial Day weekend. While the children spend 90 minutes in the classroom we checked out the big flea market and had breakfast in the cafeteria at the table that had turned into a meeting point of good friends in the last two years.
Then it was time for a little performance and the Zeugnis
Mia gave Larissah a big hug
Larissah gave Frau Möckel a big hug
After all the pictures it was time for some cake
Mia also said good bye to Louisa and Luca - hopefully we can get together sometime this summer

A Sunday Afternoon with Horses
On Mother's Day Ute and Mandy had invited us to meet at a friend of theirs who has two horses for riding. Of course Mia was all excited about this.
First all the kids were introduced to the family dog - who was big but very friendly
When it was Mia's turn to ride she got a little help from Mary who led the horse
Then Mike her husband showed Mia how to ride by herself
After the first try it was time for a late lunch
Mia could try some of the toys
Then it was time to get back in the saddle again
Mia and another girl had to wait a bit for their turn
Mia did pretty well
