Ljubljana, Slovenia

On our way back we stopped in Ljubljana, the Slovenian capital.

After checking in a the quite luxurious hotel we walked to the city center and had a small lunch

Then we walked up to the castle

There was not too much to see but Mia and Larissah came up with some games

We found a little park with an open air bar at the edge f the old town.

 Lemonade for the children and  Radler for the adults

A dog needed someone to play with

 In the evening the river walk turned into a big outdoor restaurant and cafe

The next morning we started to long drive back to Heidelberg

Crossing the Alps was nice but the traffic around Munich not so much

Kamenjak

Another short trip from Medulin is the Kamenjak nature park with a rocky coast line.

 The water was cristal clear and one could see the ground and fishes

At a cliff people were jumping - including Larissah, Raiyah and Mia. Christoph jumped the from the highest and Thomas from the lowest rock

Pula, Croatia

A 10 minute drive from out holiday apartment was the ancient city of Pula. On a hot summer day we explored the city streets. Next to the town hall is an old Roman temple

Between the ocean and the old town are the remains of an Roman amphotheater

 For Shika and Ji the highlight of the city was the big market

Medulin

Of course we checked out the main beach of Medulin first. It has sand which is unusual for Croatia with its mostly rocky coast. lao it is very shallow and one wlk out for hundreds of meters and the water is still only waist deep.

Luckily we had brought the air mattress we had bought on Kos the previous summer

Of course it was a bit crowded

The water was not very clear - so nothing to see with Mia's new diving mask

In the evening the ladies discovered a small event with live music and local food on the main square of the small twon

We were very lucky to see the total lunar eclipse that evening just over the roof of an old building

The girls enjoyed their minis doughnuts

Time for some dancing on a warm summer evening
