Heidelberger Herbst

Every fall "Heidelberger Herbst" is a huge public festival in the old town.  There are almost a dozen stages at different places with band and other performers, a huge flee market, and many other events on Saturday and Sunday.

Public Choir Concert

Mia joined a choir in her new school and they had a public concert in her second week of the school year, It was in the inner courtyard of a small museum in the old town not too far from her school and everyone was invited to sing along

A new Supermarket in the Old Town

A new supermarket opened in the old town not too far from Mia's new school. Of course we checked it out.

There was a small lottery outside where one had to spin a wheel to get a price and Mia got the main price. But since the bag contained a bottle of wine he parents had to be there to take it

Bilke ride to the new School

Instead of walking for five minutes to her elementary school Mia has now a 15 minute bike ride to the new secondary  school in the old town. This also means she has to get up 20 minutes earlier

But then the river can be really beautiful on a foggy later summer morning

First Day at the new School

Mia started fifth grade a a new school in the old town of Heidelberg. The welcome was on a afternoon were she met her new teachers and class mates for the first time
The school is under renovation so  we all met a pretty small room

Luckily there was one girl from her former school. All the new students got a sun flower as a welcome gift

To celebrate we stopped at an ice cream parlor

Meeting the Major of Palo Alto

The girl scouts were invited to meet the former major of Palo Alto at the town hall. Plao Alto is a sister city of Heidelberg so the city organized a welcome

Picnic at the River

We used a warm summer evening for a picnic at the river Neckar just a few minutes from our place
