Hainich National Park

Hainich National Park is the only national park in Thuringia - one of 13 in Germany. It was founded to protect an ancient beech forst. So wewent there for a stop on our way back home and first checked ou the visitors center.

Then we went to see the walkway that was build along the top of the trees

Erfurt

Erfurt the capital of Thuriniga is only a 30 minute drive from Weimar and also has a nice historic center. So we went to check it out:
First a little warm up at the Hirschgarten Playground

Erfurt is also the headquarter for KiKa - Kinder Kanal, a national, commercial free, public TV program for children . Some famous characters - like Bernd das Brot - can be found in the city center

The Sand Man - which is on a few minutes before 7 pm, when younger children have to go to bed

In the morning we had some rain but the afternoon was dry

Weimar

After Easter we went for a three day trip to Weimar in Thuringia - the city where Goethe and Schiller lived and were the first first parliament of the German republic had their first sessions.This was our first trip to this German state in the center of the country.
