Back to Europe

In the morning we spend some time in the Tyson's Corner Mall and had some lunch there

Then we made another trip to IAD where we caught up with major news before boarding our flight to Amsterdam since no direct flight to Frankfurt was available

The flight then had no problems and we finally made to Frankfurt on a Lufthansa flight from Amsterdam to Frankfurt the next day

Wednesday in Arlington

 Wednesday was supposed to be our last day in the US. First we had another nice breakfast in the hotel

After our good bye to Maria and Chloe we noticed that Maria's car had a flat tire and tried to help change it - but without a special key for the fancy tires no such luck

After ome more shopping trip to Trader Joe's where we noticed the wrongly place "No dogs" can pee here  sticker Dan had mentionedand lunch...

..we hopped on the Silver line for the trip to IAD

But no only Maria's car had problems - our plane back to Frankfurt as well after waiting for an hour on the runway we had to leave again and after many hours of waiting at the airport and re-booking for the next day we took a Lyft to a hotel in Reston at 1 am

Tuesday in Arlington

Tuesday we made another quick trip across the river to DC to see former colleagues at the office and Mia and her friend came along. After this they had a look at the White house

 
Then a few fresh donuts at Dupont Circle

Then meet our friends for a good bye dinner at our favorite Mexican place in Clarendon

Monday in Arlington

After breakfast in our hotel we checked out some of the playgrounds we used to visit all the time when Mia was younger and we lived in Clarendon

In the afternoon we went out to Fairfax to see Christoph and his family - we last saw them 6 years ago when we all traveled to Croatia

Sunday in Arlington

Sunday was a bit relaxed and we first met some old friends Vi and Doris and their daughters for lunch at Pho restaurant

 The last meeting  was nine years aho and Doris compared pictures from today and the last meeting before we left the US

Then we headed to the Pentagon Mall for some serious shopping with Marie and  Chloe

Saturday in Arlington

Like we did in the past we spend Saturday morning with Sylvia and her family at the farmers market in Courthouse

 

 Also like in the past we bough some fresh yogurt

Then a coffee break at the Bayou cafe - no discount though with my LSU T-shirt

What didn't exit nine years ago with a new office tower in Rosslyn with a observation deck that offers great views of DC - and doesn't even charge a fee

 

Sylvia insisted on a quick trip across the river to DC to visit a museum of our choice - we picked the Natural History one

When the museum closed we spent some time on the Mall

After this we all were invited for dinner at the new house of Sylvia and her family
