Leaving Shanghai

After a last visit with the grand parents we headed to the airport the next morning for our flight back to Frankfurt

A day with uncle Didi

For lunch we met Mia's cousin and aunt at our favorite resturant

Then uncle Didi picked us up for a special tour of Shanghai by car. First we toured the are of the hospital where he works and then he took us to a fromer slaughter house that was noew turned into an art center. But first we used a fancy hotel nearby for a bathroom break.

The slaughterhouse was very modern when it opened in the 1930'ies

 

 

Some of the rroms are now used for special events 

 Then we went to a high rise by the river to enjoy the view

 On the way back Mia wantted uncle Did to follow some sports cars

hen it was time for a late lunch

Sightseeing in Shanghai

 After lunch with uncle Didi we headed to the area around Yu Garden for some sightseeing

The area is very touristy - there was even advertisement for a french cosmetic brand in the pond around the tea house

After the touristy China town we walked toward the Huangpu river

We took a free river across the Huangpu rver to the Pudong side with all the sky scraper

 

First Day in Shanghai

We arrived in Shanghai a bit after midnight after a five hour flight and took a taxi to the hotel next to Ji's parents place. The view from the breakfast area is an elevated highway

On the street where Ji's paremts live the Chinese twin of our car in Germany - but with blue Chinese licence plates

After meeting the grand parents for lunch we headed to our favorite neighborhood Xujia Hui

First stop was Mia's favorite bakery 85 C:

 Then a great dinner a food court

Changi Airport

On our travel day from Singapore to Shanghai we left the hotel early to explore Changi airport which is kind of a tourist destination itself

Mia had create a list of the sights and we checked then out of a lunch in the huge food court between the terminals
