Taking out the trash

A new hobby Mia has picked up this week is taking the trash from our apartment to the trash room down the hall way. Of course the trash back shouldn't be too heavy and she also needs some help with the trash chute. But she can be sure that she gets our support

At the Zoo

On a wonderful warm spring day we decided to take Mia to the National Zoo here in Washington. As it turned out the zoo is very nicely designed and landscaped but there is not too much to see. Our grand total were one zebra, one elephant and two donkeys.

Mia didn't mind too much - and didn't know that she was missing flamingos, polar bear, giraffes and other animals anyway. So she was pretty excited when see saw her first elephant.

When she is a home Mia likes to check the hallways by the way and makes sure there are no dropped paperd and other trash:

Walking

Just in time for cousin Barbara's visit Mia has started to walk larger distances on her own. A good thing with spring about to start and some nice playgrounds to explore in our neigborhood. On a cooler day like today she also likes to roam at the chrildren's section at the Barne's and Noble down the street.

Another day in the park

Another sunny day was good opportunity to spend more time outside. First we headed to a park by the Potomac with nice views of Washington DC. Mia didn't pay too much attention to the sight though and was more interested in things like the empty soda can she picked from us.

In the evening we visited friends who also have a young daughter. Together we went to a play ground where Mia enjoyed her first time in a swing

Finally Spring

After a long and cold winter the temperatures finally were spring like this week. So we decided to give Mia a nice haircut for the warmer weather and to take her to a park .

She really enjoyed walking around outside - mostly with a bit of help - and even found a little boy who was willing to share some toy cars with her.

When she is inside she can walk about half a dozen steps by herself now but is still a bit wobbly.

15 Months Old

Earlier this week Mia turned 15 months old and this meant another visit at the pediatrician. Here they first checked her weight ( 25.0 lb or 11.3 kg an increase of 200 g or 6 oz the last three months ) and her height ( 31 inches or 73 cm an increase of one inch or 2.5 cm ). Mia already knew what would come next: The shots. She really was upset and wanted to leave the consultation room but this only happened after being checked by the doctor and two injections.
Fortunately she was happy again once she was out of the doctor's office.

Here at home Mia is still attracted by the fire emergency stairs where she liked to go for some

Into thin air

A few days ago Mia started a new hobby: Climbing. One of her favorite spots is our bed = which is kind of low - and the air freshener next to it. In the early morning she might also bring a iPod touch on her expedition to deliver it to mommy who is still snuggled up under a blanket.
