Warm Feet

It was still a bit chily but Mia had a great idea to keep her feet warm - three pairs of house shoes

Almauftrieb am Klosterhof

The farm that is attached to the monastery between Heidelberg and Ziegelhausen had a big event planned for the first day of spring.  The 14 cows and the bull Max who had spent all winter in the stable were lead to the pasture right next  to monastery for the first time this year. The public was invited.
First we checked out the cows on the stable and the young calves

Then Mia and the many other kids fed the goats

The big crowed was asked to move to the side of the pasture

While waiting for the big event two para gliders made a landing  on a pasture nearby

Finally the stars of the afternoon arrived

They were obviously very happy and made a few big jumps and were running around very excitedly

After all this excitement  Mia wanted to try some climbing on wall of the of the monastery

Then it was time for some lunch with beer and cheese we bought at the store there

We left for little hike up there mountain where Mia had had a summer camp - but not before saying good bye to the goats

Mia still remembered the way

She was proud when we arrived at the sports complex where we caught the bus

My used an older camera to take some pictures by herself when we went to the zoo:
The result was not too bad

Deidesheim

We wanted to check out some of the other "Alla Hopp" playgrounds in the area and decided to go to Deidesheim in the Pfalz. We could go for free by train with the Job ticket and the playground was a 5 minutes from teh train station. Also, it seemed like a good plan to take a train to a region famouts for its wine.

The last two stops to Deidesheim were on a new local Diesel train

Mia checked out some sculptures on the square in front of the Town Hall

Form there it was a five minute walk to the playground with it's huge climbing wall

Part of the sandstone rocks were some fossilized footprints of an prehistoric reptile

Mia also checked out the monkey vars

At the end it was time for Easter muffin in the bakery across the street

It really looked like a nice area and we will back in the spring for sure - today it was still very windy and cold

The old Lego train

Mia invited her class mate and neighbor Paul to come over to play with an old Lego train and other old toys like a Western town

When it was time to leave she walked him back home

Feeding the ducks

We had some leftover bread so Ji and Mia made a little bile tour to the Neckar Wiese - a park by the river Neckar - to feed the ducks.

Then some very dark clouds appeared to the south

This didn't keep Mia from a short stop at swing

A few minutes later it started to snow heavily

Mathaise-Markt

Luckily Ji picked up a free newspaper earlier this week with an article about the Mathaise-Markt - the first big fair of the spring in Schriesheim north of Heidelberg.
It was raining all morning but luckily it stopped in the afternoon and we took th Nr 5 tram to Schriesheim.
The first ride was the Ferris wheel with a beautiful view of the area

Then Mia wanted to try some other rides

She also did some pony riding

We had some snack in the big bee tent

There was a cute dog

Mia"s last ride was the Kettenkarusell

When we left the sun came finally out
