Luckily it turned sunny after three days of clouds and rain and we thought that this would be a good day to explore the two main islands on the Chiemsee.
We took the boat from Prien and first stopped at Herrenchiemsee
There King Ludwig II had built a castle as a copy of the one built by the French King Louis XIV in Versailles
There was an interesting exhibit about the colorful Bavarian king and a tour of the palace - with no photos allowed.
At the end Mia could try to roar like a lion - the symbol of Bavaria
Then she wanted to take a horse drawn wagon back to the boat pier - and sit in the front. The whole way back she was chatting with the girl next to her and the lady steering the wagon
The next boat ride was to Frauenchiemsee a smaller island with a more than 1000 year old monestary
Mia was more interested in a small cafe by the beach
She and some other kids checked the water which was still pretty cold
Then it was time to catch the last boar back to the main land
It was the oldest in the fleet
On the way back to the farm we stopped at a nice inn with traditional food.
On the way back we had to stop for a concert in the middle of the road. On the farm next door a lady had turned 80 and received it a special surprise
