Visit in Hamburg

On the way home back we stopped for a few days in Hamburg to visit old friends of Ji. On the drive there we took a short break in the small town of Bartgeheide where Ji had lived as an Au Pair more than 30 years ago. We saw the house she lived in and got some ice cream and some fresh eggs for Ji's friends

It is always special to stay at their grand old place in a great neighborhood

The weather continued to be nice and the next day we walked to a park at he outer Outer Alster lake- Mia preferred to use her scooter instead of walking

Luckily there was also an ice cream stand and a nice scenery

Swimming trip to Nyord

On our last full day on Møn it was quite hot and we checked out swimming spot on the small island of Nyord which was only a 10 minute drive away. There was no wind and the water was quite shallow so it felt a bit like at a big lake.

A peaceful place to spent a lazy afternoon

Yoga by the Cliffs of Møn

Beth invited Ji to join her for some yoga next to the white chalk cliffs of Møn. To get there they had to drive across the island to the eastern side

In the evening Beth joined us for another trip to the beach, She knew a spot that was a bit more remote and walked us there through the woods. Unfortunately the forrest was full of mosquitoes

The warwe was a bit warmer than the day before and we went for a little swim in the Baltic Sea

Nyord and Ulvshale Beach

In the morning we made a walk from the summer house to the small island of Nyord which is a protected area for birds.

To get to the island we had to cross a small bridge. We had brought some binoculars to look for birds

Mia had brought her new scooter to avoid all the exhausting walking

After the walk we headed to Ulvshale beach only 2 km away , It is a beautiful beach with white sand and not too many peole

Tuesday Market Stege

Out first day on the island started with a little project. We tried to put together a bunk bed in one of the guest huts

Unfortunately we did it wrong and had to try again a few days later.

In the afternoon we checked out the Tuesday market in Stege - the main town on the island. It was the last one of the summer - which had finally arrived on the island.

We found a parking spot not far from the old church

At one stand we spotted a huge dog - a Danish breed - that was very friendly

The city gate is one of the oldest in Denmark

In the evening we had a great dinner Ji had cooked

Trip to Denmark

We have been fortunate enough to get invited by our friend Beth to her summer house on the Danish island of Møn. We have been checkimg the weather in the last weeks and it didn't look too good which is why we have bought rubber boots and rain gear for all of us. But when we started out trip on the first weekend of Mia's summer break the forecast looked much better

Because we had to catch a ferry and traffic can be really bad around Hamburg we only drove to Lübeck on Sunday which is one hour away from the Puttgarden where the ferry is leaving. It was raining when we arrived but after dinner it was nice enough to go for an evening walk on the river Trave next to the hotel.

On Monday morning we stopped at a grocery store for some extra shopping since everything is more expensive in Denmark. There was a traffic jam at a construction site at the bridge to Fehmarn on the way to the ferry but we made in on time.

The crossing to Denmark took 45 minutes

A ferry on the way back to Puttgarden passing us

After another 90 minutes on the road we arrived at Beth's summer house

The sleeping quarters for the guests were in separate huts
