Last Day at the Barbara Cabin

On our last day in the mountains the sun came out

So before we had to leave we went for a short walk

For a the good bye a nice bottle of prosecco was opened

We took the cable car down - and this time we could enjoy the view

A good part of the group took the train back to Munich

The route back took us through a corner of Austria. A last look back at the mountains

A day with friends

When we woke up in the morning even a great breakfast was provided

Then it was time to get ready for a little hike. The weather didn't look so great but at least there was no rain in the morning

Later some more clouds moved in

When it started to rain we stopped for a break at an Alm

Mia talked Beth in doing some exercises

Since the weather didn't improve we headed back to the cabin

For the evening Antje had made reservations at place next door that also had a nice restaurant. It started with a little speech

Then with full tummies we dragged ourselves back to the cabin to continue the party.
Mia showed of her fidget spinner skills

Time for some surprises for Antje

Arrival at the Barbara Cabin

We had planned to meet some friends at the cable car station that would take us all up to the mountain where Antje was celebrating here birthday in cabin she had rented for her friends.
When we arrived the weather didn't look so great and it was raining hard when we packed up and headed from the cat to the station

But Christian was prepared and had something to warm up

Going up by one of the last cable car cabins was more fun than to walk up like some of the late arrivals had to do

From the station it was only a 10 minute walk to the cabin

But even in 10 minutes the weather can change quite a bit in the mountains

Despite the fog we found the cabin and everything was well prepared by Antje

Her boyfriend and his cousin provided live music

It was nice and warm

Wen the rain had stopped we explored the area around the cabin a bit

When the sun cam out a bit later there was a wonderful rainbow

Antje was busy cooking spaghetti for everyone - with some help of course

A great evening with old friends

Mia was the only child in the group had to go to bed first

On the road in Oberbayern

We were supposed to meet our friends in Garmisch Partenkirchen in the late afternoon so we had some time to look at a few places on the way from our country inn in the Allgäu to the meeting spot.
Our first stop was Oberammgerau - a picturesque town in the mountains famous for its 380 year old tradition of passion plays.
Of course there were many shops for tourists

Because of the clouds we didn't see much of the surrounding mountains

Our next stop was the monastery in Ettal

Funny enough we saw some of the same people who looked at he Wieskirche with us the day earlier.
Both building were built at the same time in the rococo style

Mia was more intersted in rescuiung a snail from the stairs where someone might step on it
