At the Farmer's Market

The last few Saturdays we made a trip to the farmer's market at Courthouse. This morning we joined Silvia with Luca and baby Nico and Ha with Erika and Jacob.
There were some free samples of course

All the children had some frozen sorbet

Jacob hurt his foot a bit but luckily there was some discarded ice to cool it off

At the Pool

After a few cooler days the weather is finally warm enough to spend the late afternoon at the pool again. At the weekends its a bit crowded with a party crowd but on the weekdays its fine. Of course its most fun when Erika and Jacob can join as well

The rings we bought at the end of last summer are still a big hit it seems that every family bought a set

Father's Day

Father's day started with a fancy breakfast with scrambled eggs and bacon and ended with lemon pasta as dinner

The Bike Race

Each year in early June Clarendon hosts a major professional bike race - the Air Force Association Cycling Classic -  which uses a 1 km loop in the neighborhood, Just before the main race there is are different races for kids. Mia and some of her friends signed up for the 1 km loop.
The first step was to pick up her number at registration

Then we had to wait a bit until her race started at 11:30 am. No parents were allowed  in the starting area

Doing the Dishes

A few times this week Mia wanted to do the dishes after dinner. Why not?

The Caterpillar

Mia likes to draw with the set of 50 or so color markers she got for her birthday from Erika. Mostly its more abstract but sometimes its something like this colorful caterpilar

Butler's Orchard

On June 1 Frau Kuperberg invited her former students and their families and some friend to a get together a Butler's orchard in Germantown. The meeting point was a big playground next to the strawberry fields and she had made some Kirschstreuselkuchen.
One attraction were the long slides

There was also a big spiderweb.

It was a pretty hot day and so for Mia one of her highlights were probably all the Popsicles she got from Frau Kuperberg. Since it was so hot and the lines at the strawberry fields so long we skipped the strawberry picking part
