Nana Beach

We signed up Mia for some swimming lessons and she tried the exam for swimming badge in bronze.
First she had to swim 200 m in a certain time

Then the teacher checked her dive into the water

For  a 2 m deep dive they had to go to a different pool

After a exam about swimming rules it was done

The little sandy beach was a good spot to spend the afternoon

The stone per was a good spot to look for fish - the most were at the end were it opened to the sea

In the evening it was time for dinner at the buffet or the restaurant

While Mia went to the kids disco we watched the moon rise over the mountains

Our room was in a nice little pavilion

There was show every night - some of them really professional

Meeting Rob in Heraklion

By coincidence some old friends from Louisiana were on a cruise in the eastern Mediterranean and had a stop in Heraklion while we were visiting Crete. It was easy to get to the city by public bus which had a stop right outside the hotel - so of course we headed into town to meet Rob and Bill.

Since it was a hot day we headed right to the a cool museum with antiques - some more that 3000 years old

The palace of Knossos had been nearby

Mia was more impressed by an interactive game

Then we had a wonderful lunch at a small outside cafe in a narrow city street.

The food was excellent, there was a nice breeze, the beer was cold and had an old friends as company - what more can one ask for...

Trip to Crete

Since we enjoyed our trip to Greece so much last year we also wanted to spend a week on a Greek island this year. But instead of going to Kos again we this year booked a trip to the much bigger island of Crete.
We started our flight in Düsseldorf since it was cheaper and easy to get to by high speed train

Mia had a seat by the window and took a few pictures from the plane. Like a vew of the famous island of Santorini with three cruise ships

Another cruise ship

After a three hour flight we approached Crete
As it turned out our hotel was  on small peninsula on the left corner of this photo.

We arrived at the hotel just at nightfall just in time for dinner. The next morning we explored the hotel which was covering a huge area

The water was really clear

After spending the day at the small beach we enjoyed the moon rise over the mountains
