The last Day of Elementary School

The last day of elementary school ended with a big buffet some games in the after care area and another show by the fourth graders

In six weeks a new adventure will start at a different school

End of School Year Event

At the end of the school year all students and teachers met in the auditorium for a small celebration. All the special achievements and awards were mentioned, and there was a special good bye to the principle who is going into retirement.
Also there was a special performance by the 4'th graders who have only one more day at the Wilkenschule before they all separate and go on to different secondary schools all over Heidelberg.

Then there was a good bye to the fourth graders who left through a tunnel build by the younger students

As a good bye present everyone got a flower with a wish from another student

 Later in the classroom some students got teary eyed.

Morning at the Erlichsee

After a cloudy Friday the Saturday was finally sunny on Saturday morning. So everyone had to go for a swim at 9 am in the morning

After this it was time for breakfast - including a cold pizza from the previous evening, yummy...

Bike Tour to Erlichsee

At the beginning of the year some parents had the idea to organize something special for the 4 A fourth grade class at the end of the school year. Something they would remember after they leave elementary school and move to different secondary schools in Heideberg in the fall. This event was a bike tour to a lake 24 km away with a stay at a campground overnight.
Of the 16 students in Mia's class 15 joined for the trip bu most decided to go by car - only six went by bike. Four boys and two girls. Mia was one of these two

Before everybody left right after school on Friday they posed for a group pictures

 Two hours later after a long ride with head wind the group of bikers arribed

Then it was time for lunch after the girls put their luggage in one tent and the boys in another one

It was a bit overcast and not very warm but still everyone headed for the lake

Later in the afternoon it was time for some games

Since we couldn't stay - there was only space for four parents - we left before dinner and returned the next day

The Bicycle Test

After four session of bicycle training including traffic rules there was a final test with a police officer/ Ji was one the parents that helped out as volunteers

A bus took the class from the school to the training course

Dr Rau in Town

Like two year ago Dr Rau is spending a few weeks in Darmstadt and he came to Heidelberg for a visit. Mia didn't join us for a walk in the woods but later in town

Girl Scouts Camporee Day 3

The last night of the camping trip a thunderstorm moved through the area and Mia got a bit scarred. Luckily the tents stayed dry.
The next morning it was cloudy

In the morning the parents arrived to witness the bridging and ceremony. It started with presenting the flags - Mia was in charge of the German one

The three juniors got a bronze award - the highest for their level - for their animal shelter project

Then it was time to say good bye for the rest of the summer
