Second Day in Lisbon

Before Ji's friend left by train for Porto we met at a café next to the small train station. Ji also tried a glass of ginjinha a traditional Portugues liquor

After she left Mia turned into a tour guide and too us with the help of Google via bus all over town to the large Jesus statue across the river. It was inspired by the famous one in Rio de Janeiro

From there one had a great view of the city and the bridge that loos a bit like the golden Gate bridge. Different from the counterpart in California this one has a lower deck for trains.

Another long bus trip guided by Mia we made it the famous tower in Belém that was build at a watch tower by the river

We stayed a bit at the park and watched the beautiful sunset

Then we walked in the dusk toward the monument that was set up for the Portuguese explorers that took of from Lisbon to explore the world - Vaco de Gama is one one of them

The uniqueness of the Manueline style, also known as late Portuguese gothic, can be found in all its glory at Jerónimos Monastery - a short walk from the monument

We then walked towards Belem to the bakery that offers the Pastéis de Belém.- with a long line even in the evening.
