Wismar

We had planned to also stay a few days at the Baltic sea but all hotels were booked in the third week of August - because of the pandemic many people stayed in Germany for their vacation and no rooms were available on short notice.
We still made a day trip to the hanseatic city of Wismar about 100 km east of Hamburg at the Baltic sea. It was raining when we left Hamburg but luckily the sun came out when we arrived

A street in the old twon

The St Georgen chruch

After the bombings of World War II only the tower is left of St Mary church and the space of the former church is a space with the outlines of the former building

There is also some art

Of course we had to try the Ferries wheel

Walk along the Alster

The weather was cool and rainy but we still went for a walk along the Alster in the afternoon.
First we went to a famous Curry Wurst stand on Mönckebergstrasse in the center of Hamburg

\

Luckily there was also some sun

We walked all the way to the northern end of the Alster in Winterhude

Canoeing seems to be quite popular if there even is a sales window for customer that come by canoe

A fancy neighborhood with expensive cars and restaurants

We just had Döner for dinner but it was really good

Birthday Lunch

On the birthday of our host we were invited to join the family and a friend for a lunch at a venerable hotel right at the inner Alster. On the walk over there Mia took some selfies:
Dammtor train station - where Ji arrived by train from China many years ago:

We had to wait a bit outside the hotel for everyone to arrive

Trip To Hamburg

Like last year we went for a trip to Hamburg to stay with old friends of Ji at their grand place at the Rothenbaumchaussee

The Outer Alster Lake is only a short walk away

After we arrived the weather turned a bit grey and cooler but we still spend an afternoon at the Planten and Bloomen Park nearby

It has not only flowers and trees but also some fun

For example water canons

It"s a good backdrop for wedding pictures for a Turkish wedding

And there is a playground where Mia was already many years before
