Rüdesheim

Rüdesheim is a small town on the river Rhine just where it enters a very famous and scenic part with steep mountains and many castles on both sides. The weather was perfect - warm and sunny - and we started our tour with a 90 minute cruise to some of these castle.

We could sit outside on the top deck and enjoy the weather

The ship stopped at different places along the river like Assmannshausen

Back in Rüdesheim we walked through the town to find the cable car up to the Mittenwald monument

From the cabin one had a nice view of the vineyards and down to the river

Mia checked out the little park on top next to the monument

Other people also liked the view

A large statue of Germania erected in 1881

We walked back down through the vineyards and a sunny afternoon almost as warm like a summer day

Before driving back the 90 minutes to Heidelberg we had dinner in the very touristy town and of course tasted a glass of the local Riesling wine
